Job Title: Pension Administrator/Consultant
Reports To: Team Leader
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary: Provide excellent customer service; provide clients with plan design and technical assistance in understanding plan design; meet with clients and employees to discuss plan design and implementation; process contribution/payroll data; effectively communicate with clients, investment advisors, accountants, auditors, other plan professionals, plan participants, coworkers; prepare accurate plan administration and calculations; prioritize workflow to manage and complete multiple projects within established deadlines; work independently; research and resolve problems and issues as they arise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plan Design Consulting
Technical Research Interpretation, Application and Training on Technical Issues and Procedures
Employee and Client Meetings
Analyze plan issues and develop solutions independently other than Team Leader review
Plan Takeover/Setup - including meetings with client, comprehensive review of information and coordination of process with some assistance
Review, manipulate, reconcile and analyze census data with little or no assistance
Trust Accounting review and analysis including receivables, reconciling items between funds, loans, forfeitures, comparison of actual vs. reported rates of return
Allocation Report-complete process
Complete reports within 2 weeks from all information received - including anticipating timing of receipt of information and need for data request
Provide assistance to Trust Accountant regarding spin-offs and trust accounting questions
Calculations - 415, ADP/ACP, 410(b), 416, 404 and 401(a)(4)
Loan Calculations including payoffs and maximum statutory limits
Technical allocation reports
Reading and Interpretation of Plan Documents regarding more technical issues
ASPA Exams PA, C1, C2-DC and C2-DB or C-3 and C-4 or mastery of knowledge contained in exams
Assist with training Trust Accountant (if applicable)
QDRO review
Client Payroll interface
Completion of IRS form 5500 and all attached schedules
Plan audits (100 + plan participants)
Distribution Consulting - Hardship, QDRO, NRA, Premature, In-Service, Minimum
Complete year-end plan administration (including all testing, etc) with little assistance
Average 6 hours chargeable time, 70% billable
Extra time and effort during year-end and quarterly crunch periods in order to meet deadlines and commitments
Invoice Review - discussions with clients regarding questions/issues
Complete familiarity with all company policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from college or university in finance or accounting; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
This position requires no special certificates, licenses or registrations initially, however, you must continue to work towards your designation of Qualified Pension Administrator or Certified Pension Consultant through the American Society of Pension Actuaries.

Must have strong financial and spreadsheet computer skills. Must be able to work effectively in a stressful situation and meet tight deadlines. Work requires strong interpersonal skills.
